Mechanical Engineering Department is one of the oldest departments of the institute. The department has completed 18 years of imparting practical knowledge and grooming potential engineers. We offer Bachelors of Engineering (UG), Masters in Technology in Mechanical Engineering Design stream (PG) and Doctorate (Ph.D) in Mechanical Engineering.
Mechanical Engineering is one of the preferred undergraduate programmes by the student community. The present age demands Mechanical Engineering specialists who have the adaptability and creativity in new technical areas which are all paramount for his future growth.
To meet the above requirements, the department’s approach is very student centric. Our vision is to groom tomorrow’s critical problem solving engineers helping them make successful careers in industry / research / higher studies and be competent inn professional skills and ethics.
The department boasts of well-equipped labs with latest laboratory equipments, including CNC Machine, Robotic arm, Diffused Light Research Polariscope and CAE software ANSYS alongwith complete infrastructure facilities for giving hands on practical experience to the students. These are complemented by a rich team of highly competent, well qualified, dedicated, enthusiastic faculty members having vast teaching and industrial experience (average exp. 16 years). Twelve of our faculty members pursuing Ph.D.
The department has students association MESA (Mechanical Engineering Students Association) to inculcate event management & entrepreneurial skills amongst the students. The department also has student’s chapter of international level association ‘Society of Automobile Engineers’ (SAE) & national level association ‘The Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers’ (ISHRAE) providing exposure to industrial environment.
Over the years, the institute has created a niche for its innovative short-term programmes through continuing education programmes. Regular Events are organized by the department like a 2 week STTP on ‘Sustainable and Renewable Energy’, Technical Events ‘Tech Saga-2K17’ ‘Tech Saga-2K15’, First International Conference on ‘Advances in Engineering and Technology - ICAET-2014’, ‘Radiance 2013’ work shop on “Automotive Power Train Engineering” in association with IIT Bombay & Experts Hub, National Conference ‘NCAET-2012’ and many more.
In addition to classroom teaching our learning methods include Power Point presentations, seminars, expert lectures, industry based projects etc. Regular Industrial tours and visits are conducted. In Feb 2017 our students went to ACREX 2017 at Greater Noida and subsequently to Jaipur, Delhi, Faridabad, Manali, Agra visiting Khaitan Electricals, Mini Hydro Power Plant. Every year local industrial visits are undertaken to industries like Bajaj Steel Industries, CP Foundry Works, Mahindra & Mahindra, TAL, Kinetic Gears and authorized service stations of Tata, Mahindra, Hero, Ford and Honda to boost their practical knowledge as well as to acquaint them with the latest in technology and industrial environment.
Our endeavours have resulted in producing excellent students with good University Ranking and high-quality placements catering to the needs of Indian as well as multinational industries.
